I am so excited to be hosting the third SarahDee Crochet-A-Long! Welcome, welcome! I am thankful for your support and love while I am on this crazy crochet journey. I love that so many of you have come together and built friendships while making my designs. It warms my heart so much! GUUUUSSHHHH!
This is one of those projects that just came to me one day and by the end of the next day, he was brought to life. I just knew I had to share him in a special way. I love being able to offer you these crochet-a-longs so that I can also give some pointers and tricks while we work, and laugh at how silly I can be.
Okay, let’s get into it!!
Pebbles is a sweet, snuggly turtle lovey that is a great addition to your nursery or baby shower gift/market repertoire. This pattern is also a great way to dip your toe into the lovey-making world. There is minimal sewing, as far as lovies go, and you get a step-by-step tutorial for adding your granny hexies without sewing as well! The Join As You Go (JAYG) method is my absolute favorite!
A little about Join As You Go.
There are many ways of using the JAYG method. The method in this CAL is where we attach the hexagons on the last round of each motif. Don’t forget to sew those ends in as you go! I will be sharing my tips for fast end weaving and securing those ends while working over them. (All without putting your crochet hook down. That’s right…no weaving needles 🥳) I know that a lot of you are looking forward to this tutorial! It will save you so much time.

In about a week, I will launch the first part of the PebblesCAL. I hope this will give you plenty of time to get all of your materials together and your yarn ordered! More info on that is below.
This is the landing page for all of the information you will need to participate. This three-part CAL will walk you through each step of making Pebbles the Turtle Lovey. I know you can do it, even if you are an adventurous beginner. I will update this page each week with the videos until we have reached the end of the CAL.
Important Info!
The Pebbles CAL will be slightly different than CALs past. I won’t be posting the written pattern each week. Instead, I will offer in-depth videos for each part of this CAL. If you would like the written pattern to follow along with the videos, it will be available to purchase at a sale price during the CAL. This also means that there will only be one blog post. –THIS POST– So be sure to scroll down to the correct week and watch the corresponding video.
Also, if you do prefer the video-free, CAL-free pattern, the PDF will be listed in my Etsy and Ravelry shops on the day of the CAL release. You do not have to participate in the CAL if you just want to make this pattern. The downloadable listing in my shops will have the entire written pattern, as well as photo tutorials, in one high-quality PDF. **The winner of the CAL giveaway will also be sent this PDF via email or Ravelry, if the winner has purchased a copy to follow along, a full refund will be given.**
Read through all information on this page and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out! If you have any questions while making the pattern, there will be videos posted on YouTube each week for you to follow along, and I am here to help in any way that I can. I do highly recommend watching these videos!

Don’t forget to use the hashtags #PebblesCAL and #sarahdeecrochet to participate in the CAL Giveaway!

Schematic
There is no gauge to this lovies, meaning you can use any yarn you would like. I have included the measurements of the finished blanket, without the border rounds, if you would like your lovey to be just like the sample photos. These schematics are when using Stonewashed Sport Weight and a 4mm hook.

Choosing yarn/Gauge
Obviously, you can use any yarn you would like, you do not need to use the yarn I am using. The beautiful thing about amigurumi is that there is no gauge. As long as you use a corresponding hook, it will be just fine. Keep in mind though, if you change your yarn weight the finished lovey size and amounts of yarn used with differ.
I love using all kinds of yarn. When choosing yarn for amigurumi, make sure you choose a yarn with some structure. If you use too fine or flimsy of yarn, the animal will lose shape when being stuffed, or over time.
I know that Worsted Weight(Weight 4) is a very popular weight for crocheting. If you choose this weight of yarn, the amount of yarn used will be different than what is listed in the pattern. This will also result in quite a larger blanket size and turtle. That isn’t a bad thing, just something to note when choosing yarn.
Also, something to note. If you want a thicker yarn, but love the look of the Stonewashed yarn that I use. It does come in an XL size, with all the same colors. The Stonewashed XL is listed as Aran weight. Keep in mind your yarn weights will change with this yarn as well.

Wrapping up
When this CAL is completed, you will have a finished turtle lovey. I hope you will also have some new tips and tricks under your belt, as well as some new yarny friends to follow and interact with.
If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to email me here or contact me via Instagram. I am here to help you!

I SEE THE YARN BUT NOT THE AMOUNT OF SKIENS.

The amount of yarn is listed in grams next to the name of each color. If you still can’t find it, I will get on my computer and send you a screenshot.

Thank you, sorry I was thinking that was the amount for each skein of that yarn, regular skeins. Now maybe I can work on my materials, Thanks again. My bad.
